Large scale Douglas Skyraider for R/C and six Channels. 3 Sheet plan.
Plans to build this magnificent Douglas Skyraider.
Printed on three huge A0 sized sheets, these are the original drawings as supplied to Traplet publications for their plan feature on this model as designed by myself. I had a run of around ten designs from 2011 onwards for Radio Control Model World Magazine and this was the largest and most comprehensive.
At 75 1/2" span, it makes a good sized and scale model aircraft for radio control and six channels. .91 to 120 four stroke Glo motors.
The prototype had a SC91 and mechanical retracts.
I would advise suitable Rom Air or 120 sized electric screw jack retracts (twist 90 degrees type) or keep it fixed.
This is a 100% accurate model and not altered in proportion in any way to aid flying performance, simply not necessary, the real one has ideal proportions and this shows in the flight performance! You may remember the accident at Duxford a few years ago (thankfully non fatal) where one of these collided with a Mustang. The Skyraider landed safely with nearly half of a wing missing! Real proof of an aircraft with safe handling!
It will absorb a lot of materials in the build so it will not be cheap!
See our feature page for photos of construction, complete model and a flight video. Worth a look if you are going to buy this plan.
